Now it’s not long until December 19, which is the date when Will Smith’s new movie Seven Pounds, is released. I have a felling that Seven Pounds can be a very good movie, since it seems that Will Smith will show us some of his best acting talents, in Seven Pounds.
I find it very interesting to see old episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and compare that to what he does now. Then it became rather clear that he has made a remarkable career as an actor, going from comedy, action and now drama, and how he improve his acting from film to film and pulls it through.
I am certain that we will see a more solid drama acting from Will this time, compared to The Pursuit of Happyness. Also, according to various movie sites, forums and blogs, people even speculate if this role will give Will Smith an Oscar for best actor. He has two nominations in past, for Ali (2001) and The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), so maybe this third time he will go all the way, if he gets a nomination.
Back to Seven Pounds now, which is about the IRS agent Ben (Will Smith) that has a dark secret, haunting him from the past. Guilt-ridden he embarks on a journey to help seven strangers, that are truly struggling with their lives. On his salvation journey he discovers love through the beautiful woman Emily (Rosario Dawson), which complicates his journey a bit. He also meets the blind pianist Ezra (Woody Harrelson), which bonds with Ben.
The script for Seven Pounds, was written by Grant Nieporte, that have previously written two episodes for the TV-show, 8 Simple Rules… for Dating My Teenage Daughter. Seven Pounds has the same director as The Pursuit of Happyness, Gabriele Muccino, who also brought in the same creative team from that movie, to this one. So apparently we will see some similarities from The Pursuit of Happyness in Seven Pounds, even maybe a nomination, who knows?
At last, according to people who has seen the movie, Seven Pounds is a drama with a feel-good theme and it’s actually a very good one, that will please us drama fans. That confirms the feelings I got, from watching the trailer.
