The Unborn

Just by looking at the trailer for The Unborn, I just knew that this horror movie is going to be something different. I guess it’s because the director David S. Goyer, clearly has gotten some influences from the Asian movies. I always get the chills up my spine, when I see dead people with an empty look in their eyes moving irregular and twisting and turning their limbs. Also the plot for The Unborn seems interesting and as there is a kid involved, things get automatically a bit more frightening.

The core of the plot is that sometimes the soul of a dead person, is so filled up with hate, that heaven just wont let them in. Therefor the soul is trapped between worlds and is desperately seeking for a fresh body to posses. You know what? Sometimes they actually finds a body they can sneak inside!

In The Unborn, we get to know the young woman Casey Beldon, played by Odette Yustman. When Casey’s mother left her when she was very little and she hates her for that. However, when Casey finds herself getting dawned into what seems to be her worst nightmare, she starts to understand why she left.

As a demonic spirit haunt her in her dreams, during the day and threaten everyone she care for, she understand that she must seek help. She finds the man who could actually stop this demon, Sendak, played by Gary Oldman.

Together with Sendak, Casey starts to dig into her past, and she discover a creature, with the power to posses anyone or anything. Her only chance to make it out of her nightmare alive is to slam the door, between worlds, right in the face of someone who was never even born….

Hopefully The Unborn lives up to my expectations and scare us big time when it’s released on the 9th January, 9.
